Ok, so now we get to Murals and
Stuff , which hasn’t really been my greatest success. It’s hard
(really hard) to paint while standing on a ladder. “Perpetual Blue Sky”
was done in a rental apartment and the tenant after me didn’t even notice
it painted above the door. DUH!! Did he think there were really strange fat
territorial robins hanging around his window all day and night? I also don’t
think “Break Room in Paradise” was fully appreciated by the working
men in the city. I was trying to give them cool breezes during their short
lunch break but I caught the Romper Room comment. (Everybody’s a critic)
Now if I’d painted it to look like a dirty garage (which is where they
used to eat) would they have been more comfortable? Maybe I should have glued
a few cigarette butts and used napkins and bottle caps to the wall and spread
around some mustard and ketchup packets… Then there's the trompe l'oeil
palm trees on the porch. Ever tried to paint on bumpy stucco and balance on
a ladder at the same time? At least my friend Karen liked her stable sign…of
course then she moved and closed the business. Do ya think I’m on a
streak here!!!!
